What exactly is checking?
Cracks that appear in logs are known as "checking," which is a natural part of the wood's aging process. This phenomenon is often most evident along edges and within drilled holes, where increased surface area accelerates drying. Importantly, checking does not compromise the structural integrity of the furniture. It contributes to the unique character and authenticity of a natural wood product.
